Hamburg 2012 To Get Evaluation Visit

Hamburg, one of the five cities bidding to become the German candidate for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, will be visited by an 11-member assessment team from the German Olympic Committee who will conduct an two-day evaluation of the city beginning Thursday.

There will be an inspection of the sports facilities and the concept that all venues will be located within ten kilometres of the town centre.

The team will also examine traffic planning, accommodations and finances.

Following the inspection there will be discussions with experts and consultants.

Hamburg is also looking to become the host city for the Special Olympics in 2004, which would help it with its preparations for the 2012 Games.

The German Olympic Committee inspection team will then visit Leipzig, Duesseldorf, Stuttgart and Frankfurt.
