The CBC reports that Halifax municipal officials say details of Halifax’s bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games will be made public once the federal government signs on.
The regional council unanimously approved the budget Tuesday which will be sent to delegates around the world, but details were discussed behind closed doors.
Deputy Mayor Russell Walker said, “until we actually have (federal approval) in writing, we don’t have anything. When Ottawa signs off then everything will be made public”.
Because they don’t want to tip their hand to their competitors Glasgow or Abuja Nigeria, bid committee members have refused to reveal any financial details associated with the bid.
The estimated cost of staging the event is $785 million.
