Greece’s Public Order Minister Michalis Chrisoholdis met ambasadors and security experts from the United States, Britain, Australia, Spain, France, Germany and Israel, to detail plans for a massive policy effort at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
Authorities are planning an unprecedented operation for the Athens Games, including cooperation between police and the armed forces and the creation of a government-directed security division.
Also promised are intensive training programs and elaborate surveillance systems, including more than 1,000 video cameras around the city and at sports venus.
