Glasgow is hosting the Norwich Union Glasgow Grand Prix June 3 to help showcase the city ahead of the decision on which city should host the 2014 Commonwealth Games – Abuja or Glasgow.
The Scotsman reports it’s the first time in 13 years that Scotland has staged a grand prix athletics event. Ed Warner, UK Athletics chairman said, “we already have the Olympics coming to these shores in 2012 and what better way to keep that momentum going than for Glasgow to host the Commonwealth Games two years later”.
