Interfax reports that the Russian government has approved Moscow’s bid for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
The decision was made at a session between Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov and a number of Cabinet ministers on Tuesday.
During the session officials from the State Sports Committee and the Russian Olympic Committee unveiled Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov’s initiative.
The press service said “a number of sports facilities will be built in the city. Moscow is now preparing to submit its bid”.
