The President of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), Mike Fennell, and his executive board will be in Glasgow for four days starting Wednesday to Sunday to assess the city’s bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The group is not eligible to vote in the 2014 host city election, but Glasgow 2014 told GamesBids.com the board members “are obviously hugely influential in the Commonwealth movement”.
While in Glasgow they will be given an extensive tour of the proposed Games’ venues, receive presentations on the bid, and meet with senior representatives from the Scottish government, the City Council and the Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland. They will also attend several social functions.
Meanwhile the CGF board members are expected in Abuja August 20 until August 24. The members are to visit all the sporting facilities should Abuja host the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Glasgow and Abuja are the only two cities competing for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
