Derek Casey, Director of Glasgow’s bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games said he is pleased with the positive reactions to the bid from the media and the Commonwealth Games Federation after the bid books were handed over.
“It was a good handover ceremony and we were able to show the differences in the two bids”, Casey said in an interview with GamesBids.com while he was en route from London to Glasgow.
Since last September the bid team has been on the road visiting 67 of the 71 countries involved in the Commonwealth Games.
“Everywhere we went, we got a positive response.
Casey says the team might rest for a couple of weeks before the next leg of the race.
“We need to prepare for the evaluation visit then members from other countries come to visit. We’ll be able to show that we’re athlete focused, we have 70% of the venues in place and we have good support.”
The final election will be November 9 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
