Ghana Announces Bid For 2032 Summer Olympic Games

Benson T. Baba, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), said at a GOC reception for the sporting media last Friday that Ghana will bid for the 2032 Summer Olympic Games.

According to a Ghana Web site the country has sent an official letter to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) expressing its interest and intention to bid for the Games.

Baba said the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees in Africa (ANOCA) to be hosted by Ghana June 15 to 18, will give Ghana the opportunity to emphasize its case to the IOC that Ghana should host the 2032 Summer Games. Among those expected to attend are Jacques Rogge, President of the IOC, and Juan Antonio Samaranch, his predecessor, as well as various bid committees from the five cities bidding for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
