HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Olympic Committee and founder of Generations For Peace, signed a “landmark agreement” with the Laureus Sport For Good Foundation. According to a press release, under the agreement the two organizations will share expertise and potentially pool resources to raise the profile of the use of sport for peace and reconciliation.
On signing the Memo of Understanding with Tanni Grey-Thompson, Paralympic Games Gold Medallist, Vice-Chair of the trustees for the Foundation, and a member of the Laureus World Sports Academy at the Paralympic Games in Beijing, Prince Feisal said, “Laureus has become recognized as a global organization that celebrates the universal power of sport to bring people together as a force for good and uses the passion that sport inspires to effect social change across the world”.
Grey-Thompson said, “Laureus has grown enormously since its creation in 2000 and we now support over 60 projects world wide. Like Generations For Peace we share a belief in the power of sport to break down barriers, bring people together and to improve the lives of young people around the world. My fellow Laureus Academy members and I are looking forward to working in the future with Generations For Peace and I hope that together we can change the world for the better”.
