Following last year’s successful camp in Sochi, Generations For Peace and Sochi City Administration announced Friday a partnership to stage another Generations for Peace Sochi Camp in October. The announcement was made at a signing ceremony attended by Mark Clark, CEO of Generations For Peace, and Anatoly Nikolayevich Pakhomov, Mayor of Sochi City.
HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein, Founder and Chairman of Generations For Peace, said, “this is another important milestone in the global development of Generations For Peace. The renewed partnership with our Russian friends shows that last year’s groundbreaking event in Sochi worked. It shows that success breeds success and that we can partner with cities and organizations all over the world who are building a positive legacy for the future and share with us an understanding of the positive impacts achieved from harnessing the power of sport for long-term sustainable peace and development”.
The Generations For Peace Sochi Camp 2011 will again feature delegates from the Russian Federation and several other European countries to be announced in the near future.
A significant number of delegates will come from the 26 Sochi 2014 Volunteer Centres, providing more impetus to Russia’s volunteer movement.
The ten-day camp will deliver the Generations For Peace curriculum, with ten highly-developed modules designed to equip delegates with the tools they need to implement sustainable peace through sort projects: Sport and Peace, Peace Building, Working with Children and Youth, Train the Trainers, Advocacy and Partnerships, Learning Facilitator’s Guide, and four sports-specific modules.
The camp takes place in Sochi October 10-19, 2011. It’s Generations For Peace’s eighth camp since its inception in 2007.
Sochi is hosting the 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
