PyeongChang 2018’s bid has the support of religious leaders who gathered in Gangwon, South Korea to form the Religion Peace Council. Buddhist, Christian and Catholic leaders announced Thursday a Declaration of Support for PyeongChang’s bid.

Un Environment Program Head praised Sochi 2014’s leadership in environmental protection Friday, highlighting that he has “a strong feeling that Sochi 2014 will be successful” in environmental protection. He said Sochi 2014 was “full of very active people, dedicated to bringing positive sustainable change to their country”, adding that the “UNEP will be there to support and advise” Sochi 2014.

Suresh Kalmadi, New Delhi Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Chairman, (CWG OC) said Thursday he opposed the charges of tampering with the original bid documents. A report said the original bid documents submitted to 72 Commonwealth countries in 2003 were allegedly tampered with and in the original bid, cleared by the Vajpayee government in 2003, the Chairman of the CWG OC was to have been nominated by the government while the IOA president’s position was to be that of Vice Chairman.
