Within two weeks Frankfurt’s bid to become the German candidate for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games has increased by 20,000 volunteers.
Government spokesperson Dirk Metz called it “simply sensational”.
Two weeks ago the bid committee had asked for an additional 25,000 volunteers before April 12 and Metz said if the momentum continues they should reach that goal and maybe even surpass it.
Heinz Jurgen Weiss, head of Frankfurt’s bid, said that none of the other four applicant cities had as many volunteers.
