Former IOC President Has Heart Attack

AFP reports that former International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Juan Antonio
Samaranch suffered a mild heart attack Tuesday while attending the Sportel international sports television festival at the Grimaldi Forum.

Samaranch was taken to the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco and was to stay there for two or three days as a precaution because of his age. Tests revealed Samaranch had an irregular heartbeat, but AFP reports a medical source said he had responded well to treatment.

Samaranch was recently at the IOC Congress in Copenhagen where he spoke on behalf of Madrid’s bid for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
