Eight of 10 cities bidding for the 2008 Summer Games were in Switzerland last week meeting with the International Olympic Committee. Ten cities were invited by the IOC to International Olympic Committee headquarters to meet with IOC officials. Only Cairo and Bangkok were absent from the meeting.
IOC sports director Gilbert Felli said, “we said during the bid process that we wanted to have this meeting a few months after the 2008 Games were awarded. In general terms I’d say we were happy with the discussions”.
At the meeting there was talk about making the process shorter and cutting costs.
