A massive fireworks display over Yong Pyong signaled the conclusion of the second day of the IOC Evaluation Visit to PyeongChang. IOC members were invited to participate in a traditional Korean ceremony before the display, which included pyrotechnic Olympic rings, began.
Earlier, the IOC Commission enjoyed a welcome dinner hosted by Prime Minister Han Myeong-sook in the Greenpia Grand Ballroom of the Yongpyong Resort.
The delegation was entertained with traditional Korean music and dance, a childrens’ choir and video presentations. The program concluded with a speach by a PyeongChang school girl who asked that the IOC promise to return to PyeongChang in 2014.
All parties seem pleased with how the inspection has progressed. During the site visits earlier in the day thousands of Gangwon province residents lined the streets cheering.
“We hope the IOC Evaluation Commission was made to feel extremely welcome by the very enthusiastic crowds that turned out today around PyeongChang” said Chairman of the bid committee, Han Seung-soo.
