FIFA Approves New York 2012 Revised Stadium Plan

NYC2012 announced Friday it had received the approval of its revised Olympic Stadium plan from FIFA, the international governing body for football.

Daniel Doctoroff, NYC2012 founder and New York’s Deputy Mayor said, “we are grateful to FIFA for its prompt review and approval of our revised plan”.

Last week the International Track and Field Federation (IAAF) also endorsed NYC2012’s new plan saying they were very impressed because it was done in such a short time and it met all their technical requirements.

Also Friday New York 2012 submitted the revision of its Candidature File to the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Executive Board, outlining in detail the revised plans for the Olympic Stadium, IBC and MPC.

The submission included the required approval letters from the IAAF, FIFA and the International Paralympic Committee as well as the appropriate guarantees.
