Guo Tienan, director of the fire department under the Ministry of Public Security, said Beijing is drawing up a fire emergency plan to ensure that firemen can arrive at a fire scene within five minutes during the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
There are plans to establish 26 temporary fire stations near stadiums around gymnasiums.
Firemen will also check fire risks citywide and ask units to specify their emergency response time, reports Xinhua, and a fire accident remote monitoring system will be set up to provide early warnings to citizens.
