An early sell-out is expected for the 5th annual SportAccord to be held April 23 to 27 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Beijing China.
Anna Hellman, General Manager of the International Sports Convention, SportAccord, said, “we are delighted to be returning to Asia for a second year to build upon the success of SportAccord 2006 in Seoul. Being in Beijing one year before the 2008 Games will add a new, exciting dimension to SportAccord and offer further benefits to our delegates, sponsors and exhibitors”.
Wang Wei, Executive Vice President of Beijing 2008, said, “one of the highlights for BOCOG will be the opportunity to invite delegates to see for themselves the progress we are making with the Olympic and Paralympic venues”.
Organizers of the convention say that more than 50 per cent of exhibition stand space has already been sold and a high percentage of exhibitors have increased their involvement in the event.
New developments in SportAccord 2007 include more networking opportunities in response to feedback from the delegates. There will be a “speed meeting” facility and a more compact conference program is planned featuring high-level keynote speakers, interviews and case studies.
SportAccord draws representatives from bid cities and host cities as well as organizing committees from around the world to participate in a week-long program consisting of an exhibition, conference and networking activities. Suppliers and consultants to the International Sports Events industry are strongly represented at the event, which commands a global attendance of more than 1,200 delegates.
