Der Naturschutzbund Nordrhein-Westfalen and the Dusseldorf Rhein-Ruhr Olympic bid committee have signed an agreement to cooperate to make a Dusseldorf 2012 Olympic bid environmentally friendly.
Should Dusseldorf become the German candidate for the 2012 Games and host the event, it wants to inform and convince visitors from all over the world about the city’s environmental management and modern pollution-control technology.
Dr. Michael Vesper, Sports Minister, said that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) explained the importance of keeping the Olympic Games environmentally friendly and he was pleased that Dusseldorf 2012 has developed environmental guidelines.
