Demolitions and Resettlement Due To Abuja 2014 Lawful

FCT Minister of State John Akpanudoedehe says the demolition of houses and the resettlement of displaced communities along the airport road should Abuja host the 2014 Commonwealth Games will be guided by the rule of law, reports the Daily Trust.

He told heads of the communities in the area that President Umaru Yar’Adua was sensitive to the plight of the people.

Akpanudoedehe said the demolition of settlements would start after compensation and resettlement had been carried out by the FCT administration. “We are adopting a faster approach in the resettlement of the affected communities because of Nigeria’s bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

He promised that officials would continue to hold regular meetings with the affected communities and their leaders.
