One of two delayed projects designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava for the Athens 2004 Games will be completed on time.
It was announced that construction will begin in June on a pedestrian bridge designed to ease traffic congestion on Athens’ streets during the Games and should be completed six weeks before the Olympics start in mid-August 2004.
The $4.4 million (U.S.) bridge will span 94 metres over one of Athens’ busiest streets. The project includes a parking lot for 250 cars and is designed to promote use of public transportation.
