One of Russia’s leading film festivals, the 18th Annual Open Russian Film Festival Kinotavr, took place in Sochi June 2 to 11th, which was a rehearsal for the 2014 Cultural Olympiad should Sochi win the 2014 Winter Olympic Games bid.
According to a press release Sochi’s bid will offer a “memorable” Cultural Olympiad in the four-year lead up to the 2014 Sochi Games. A multi-year cultural program will accompany the Games, starting in 2010 and continuing up to 2014.
The featured program during the 2014 Games will be a compendium of the most outstanding elements from the four preceding years, showcasing Russia’s best in film, theatre, music and the visual arts, said Sochi 2014.
