Countdown Clock To Turin 2006 Unveiled

On Monday the organizing committee for the Turin 2006 Winter Games unveiled a five-metre high “Countdown Clock” during a performance by international theatre groups – a combo of dancers, performers and acrobats.

The presentation included a video, and lasers and lights merged with powerful “scenographic” and technical systems.

According to the Turin 2006 Web site the performers unveiled the Countdown Clock – a towering block of ice five metres high, almost two metres wide and 60 centimetres deep – with a giant colourful Swatch, a sponsor of the Turin Games, trapped inside.

The Swatch’s frozen digital display shows the word “Countdown” in glowing dark blue light, with the number of days and seconds to go until the Turin 2006 Winter Olympic Games begin.
