The Abuja 2014 Commonwealth Games Bid Committee is staging a one-day musical concert in Abuja on Friday July 13 to create awareness and raise funds to support Abuja’s bid.
The concert, taking place at the International Conference Centre, will feature top artists. Although it debuts in Abuja the concert will run through 12 cities and be phased into four, said Patrick Ukah, Managing Director of Gazelle Consults Nigeria Limited. He said the concert and the quiz program now running on the Nigeria Television Authority network are geared at creating awareness for Abuja’s bid and to drum up support for the bid process from Nigerians in all walks of life.
He said, “this concert is one of the ways of supporting the 2014 bid and get Nigerians to participate in the process. Most importantly, the International Conference Centre Abuja, which is hosting the musical concert, is one of the venues earmarked for some of the events of the games. Thus staging the concert there is an opportunity of showcasing one of the facilities to host the games if we win the bid”.
