Almost a year after London won the bid to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games on July 6, 2005, London 2012 chairman Sebastian Coe said he feels that what has been achieved over the last 12 months has been “pretty remarkable”.
He said all the structure is in place “and the people we want in place”, adding, “at the moment we are okay. The Co-ordination Commission working with us from Lausanne to help deliver the project recently gave us a very good clean bill of health.
“So it’s been a good year and there’s been no complacency. But we will need every one of the 318 Mondays there are between now and the Opening Ceremony. Although there’s a lot of work that has already taken place, it’s a 24-hour-a-day job”.
