A delegation of Chinese architects visited Madrid recently to study its architecture ahead of the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
Madrid is one of five candidate cities bidding to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
The group focussed on three areas – sport, housing and art.
The architects were looking at examples of how the city integrates its aims into the construction process.
The architects said they were “very interested” to know more about Madrid’s plans for the 2012 Games. They visited Madrid’s Stadium, The Housing Municipality, La Plaza de Oriente and Los Austrias.
The group saw models of Madrid’s bid at the Interior Ministry including the Caja Magica, the Aquatic Center, the Rocodromo, the future extension of the Stadium and the Olympic Ring.
