China To Bid For 2014 World Cup

Zhang Jilong, vice-chairman of the Chinese Football Association, announced that China plans to bid to host the 2014 World Cup if the tournament returns to Asia.

By 2014 China will have hosted the 2003 Women’s World Cup, the 2004 Asia Cup and the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.

FIFA Chairman Joseph Blatter expressed his hope that China would bid for the 2014 World Cup, saying that China has good sports facilities and human resources, therefore completely capable of hosting World Cup games.

Reports say that Malaysia, Singapore, the United States, Australia and several Gulf states are also interested in hosting the 2014 World Cup.
