Chicago Mayor Richard Daley is travelling to Barcelona, host of the successful 1992 Olympic Games, to look for new ideas in Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games reports local media.
Daley said, “I’ve been to Beijing, Athens and London and one thing that Barcelona has done – it was a great city but the Olympics really brought it huge global identification”.
Daley plans to meet with Barcelona’s mayor and business leaders, and speak with those instrumental in planning the 1992 Barcelona Games. He will reportedly also tour the remaining Olympic sites to see how they have been adapted for reuse.
