Chicago And Los Angeles Mayors To Support U.S. 2016 Bid

Chicago’s Mayor Richard Daley and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa promised each other Monday that they will support whoever is the U.S. candidate for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

Daley said, “whoever wins this—all of us have to get behind a city. When the U.S. Olympic Committee makes the selection, all of us in the United States should get behind it and say, ‘we want it in that city’”.

Vallaraigosa said he made the same pledge to Daley when the two mayors met recently in Los Angeles, reports the Chicago Sun Times.

He said, “L.A. is a great venue…we think we’ve got a great opportunity to host the Olympics. But we want an American city to host those Olympics. Once we get through the process, whichever American city is the nominee, we’ll support”.
