The Tobo control centre will be the coordinator of all the television broadcasts during the 2006 Turin Summer Olympic Games.
The centre will connect a network of about 400 television cameras linked by 300 kilometres of cables.
By the end of 2004 more than 100 highly skilled staff will be employed at the centre, including technicians now working on the broadcast facilities of the Athens 2004 Summer Games. By 2005 it will rise to 150.
More than 2,000 technicians working for the large international TV networks will be involved in broadcasting the 2006 Games.
It’s estimated that more than two billion people will watch 900 hours of broadcast footage. There will be 30 mobile production centres and more than 900 booths for commentators bringing the 2006 Games to viewers around the world.
The control centre will be located at the International Broadcast Centre, a 30,000 square metre complex where all the accredited TV stations will have their own studios.
