Cardiff Wales Considers 2014 Commonwealth Games Bid

Cardiff Wales is seriously considering a bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The Glasgow Herald reports that other British cities were expected to stand aside for Glasgow, who is also considering bidding for the Games, but Cardiff officials have visited Melbourne to discuss Melbourne’s successful bid for the 2006 Games

Steven Purcell, president of the Glasgow City Council, said that Glasgow would have to consider Cardiff’s position before making a final decision on bidding. He said, “I am confident that if Glasgow goes for it, given the wealth of experience we have in hosting events, that we have an advantage over Cardiff”.
