Canadian Prime Minister To Boost Toronto’s 2008 Bid In Moscow

At the National Summit on Sport, Canada’s Heritage Minister Sheila Copps, talked about putting on a full-court press to take advantage of all opportunities available to build the sports infrastructure in Canada, including Toronto’s 2008 Olympic bid.

The National Summit of Sport is a culmination of forums staged across Canada that brings together sports leaders from all the Canadian provinces and territories as well as national sports federations.

Copps hinted that Canada’s Prime Minister Jean Chretien, chairperson of the summit, would be visiting Moscow to help lobby International Olympic Committee delegates for the July 13 vote to determine the host city of the 2008 Games.

Copps said, “I think it’s clear the team has a fighting chance, and we want to bring in our best boxer”.
