Berne’s Withdrawal Doesn’t Change Things

John Furlong, President and Chief Operating Officer of Vancouver 2010, said a decision by Berne to withdraw from the 2010 Winter Olympic race won’t change things for the B.C. Olympic effort.

He said it won’t hurt Vancouver’s chances to make them any better.

As for a Vancouver 2010 referendum, Furlong said a decision is up to the government.

Meanwhile, according to an Ipsos-Reid poll, 82 per cent of Canadians and 67 per cent of British Columbians support Vancouver’s 2010 Olympic bid.

Fifty-five per cent of B.C. residents support the bid because they believe the Games will provide a positive boost for the economy.
