Xinhuanet reports that Berlin is looking for the opportunity to cooperate with Beijing 2008 in its preparations for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, said Berlin’s mayor Klaus Wowereit on Wednesday in Beijing where he was heading a municipal government delegation and was met by Wang Wei, newly appointed deputy president of Beijing 2008.
“Berlin’s government is very supportive when Berlin’s as well as German companies participate in Beijing’s preparation for the Games.
“We would like to know some details about the plans for the construction work Beijing will undertake during the preparation and see what we can do”.
The Mayor said Berlin was interested in such Olympic projects as the Olympic Village, the cycling track and clean transportation facilities.
Wang said, “Germany has much experience in staging large-scale sporting events as Berlin and Munich were both hosting cities of the Olympics. The 2006 World Cup is also to be held in Germany.
“We need to learn from them and Berlin Mayor’s visit further solidifies the ties between the two cities”.
