The Beijing 2008 Olympic Bid Committee (BOBICO) is now the owner of a two-seat rotary-wing aircraft donated to the group by Tong Dawai, a former resident of Beijing. Tong now lives in Silicon Valley in the U.S.
The plane is equipped with globally advanced technology and will be used to take promotional films for the bid committee.
During the donation ceremony, Tong said he will either provide the bid committee with a free pilot or pilot training.
Meanwhile, a children’s painting and calligraphy exhibition “New Beijing, Great Olympics” opened Wednesday at Yanhuang Museum. The exhibition is sponsored by the Beijing Education Commission and Beijing Education Science Institute.
Children across Beijing submitted thousands of works of calligraphy and art. Three paintings were donated to the Beijing bid committee.
At the opening ceremony a student read a letter to Juan Antonio Samaranch, president of the International Olympic Committee.
