Among the dignitaries attending the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Paralympic Games on September 6 is Spanish Princess Infanta Elena who will lead an official delegation. The Princes is honorary president of the Spanish Paralympic Committee.
Mercedes Coghen, head of Madrid’s bid for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, is also part of Spain’s delegation.
Meanwhile, since the Beijing Olympics ended, Paralympic licensed products are filling the shelves of Beijing stores. Wang Jian, general manager of the flagship Olympic Licensed Product Store in Beijing predicted that as the Paralympics approach there will be many more customers.
According to People’s Daily Online Wang said, “around the opening of the Paralympics in September 70 per cent of goods will be on the shelves”.
Paralympic licensed products reportedly come in 10 categories including clothing, toys, pens and mugs. They will remain on sale until next March.
The main souvenir of this year’s Paralympic Games will be various models and textured mascots – “Fu Niu Lele”.
