According to a report in a Chinese publication the Morning Post, there are no plans for a Disney theme park to be built in Beijing in time for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
At the time that Beijing was awarded the Games, Beijing’s Municipal Bureau of Tourism announced that a large theme park would be one of the three major tourist attractions Beijing planned for the 2008 Games. It quoted a Beijing Municipal Bureau of Tourism official as saying that after the plan for building a large theme park similar to Disneyland was approved, some companies including Disney did express interest but “it does not necessarily mean Beijing will build a Disneyland”.
And news about the possibility off a theme park spread after Disney opened a Website address in Beijing in August.
But a Disney theme park in Hong Kong is expected to be ready for visitors in 2005.
