Beijing 2008 Unveils Environmental Logo

Beijing 2008 has unveiled its new environmental logo, a symbol created using a calligraphic art form composed of human and tree-like shapes.

The logo consists of the crown of a tree and the shape of a human being, which are used to create the form of a large tree reaching the sky representing harmony and unity between human beings and nature.

BOCOG Executive Vice President and Vice Mayor of the Beijing Municipality, Liu Jingmin, said the environmental goals of BOCOG needed not only the support of the government and the work of Beijing 2008, but that they also depended on the participation of the public.

He said the new symbol was an important step in BOCOG’s educational work to encourage more citizens to participate in “green” activities, support the “green” Olympic Games and lead “green” lives.
