Beijing 2008 Uniforms Unveiled

Uniforms for the staff and volunteers of the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games were unveiled Sunday during celebrations of the 200-day count to the Games.

According to Beijing 2008 the uniforms feature “lucky clouds”, the same pattern used in the design of the Beijing 2008 Olympic torch.

The staff uniforms are red, the volunteers’ uniforms are blue, and the uniforms for technical officials are grey.

BOCOG said it will outfit 130,000 people with uniforms provided by Adidas.

Meanwhile Beijing’s Mayor Guo Jinlong said the city faces a tough task in curbing its “notorious” air pollution ahead of the Games. Guo said in a speech to the city’s legislature, “the task of bringing environmental pollution and traffic congestion under control remains arduous”.

He said Beijing would enact strict standards on emissions this year and take other steps to curb pollution.
