International Olympic Committee member Ser Miang NG of Malaysia, who is also a member of the Coordination Commission for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, said he believes “the Beijing Games will be the best ever, judging from their pace in preparing the Games”.
He added, “they’ve done what is necessary for hosting the Games not only ahead of schedule, but also very well”.
As for the prospect for Wushu or marital arts to be incorporated into the Olympics, NG said that there is a possibility for the Chinese traditional sport to be included in the 2008 Olympic program.
“Both Beijing organizers and the World Wushu Federation have been working hard in a bid to have the sport included in the Olympics. Their efforts have sent a message to the IOC members that Wushu has a strong and sincere desire to join the Olympic family”.
