BOB, the newly formed Beijing Olympic Broadcasting Co. Ltd., a joint venture between the IOC Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) and the Beijing Organizing Committee, will be the host broadcaster for the 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games. BOB was founded to insure the quality of broadcasting, reduce operational costs and leave a technological legacy for China’s broadcasting industry.
The China Daily says the company will feed national and international TV and radio networks during the Games.
According to agreements signed, BOB will be in charge of producing international TV and radio signals for the Games and important side events, constructing and operating the International Broadcasting Centre and other venues, and providing other relevant broadcasting services to the rights-holding broadcasters of the Games.
It is estimated that during the 2008 Games more than four billion people will watch and listen.
Also, General Electric has signed a partnership agreement with Beijing 2008, and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
