Beijing’s municipal government released an Olympic Action Plan Thursday, which states that the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games will require 100,000 volunteers.
According to the Action Plan, Beijing 2008 will launch a volunteer recruiting program by this June. College and high school students are expected to make up the majority of volunteers.
BOCOG vice president Jiang Xiaoyu has said that the committee welcomes everyone from home and abroad who has enthusiasm for and devotion to the cause to join in hosting a successful Olympics in 2008.
