Beijing 2008 May Break All Sponsorship Records

The Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games are reportedly on the way to breaking all sponsorship records with a corporate sponsorship figure of $1 billion.

There are already confirmed agreements with six sponsors including Volkswagen, Bank of China and China Mobile in the amount of $600 million as large groups are rushing to promote their brands in China.

Gerhard Heiberg, chairman of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) marketing commission said, “they will absolutely reach the figure of $1 billion. I think Beijing will break all records”.

The Beijing domestic sponsorship figure excludes amounts raised by the IOC’s TOP worldwide sponsorship program for multinational companies.
