According to Sun Weijia, deputy director of Beijing 2008, organizers are launching a worldwide five-year project to find a theme song for the 2008 Olympic Games. He said that by 2008 the theme song for the Beijing Games will be selected from 50 Olympic songs.
Sun added that the theme song should not only reflect the Chinese culture and the Olympic spirit, but also gain popularity with people all over the world.
The date for submission of entries is August 31 and the selection process will start in September.
