According to “Around The Rings”, Beijing 2008 is still going ahead with the August 3 launch of its new logo, despite its premature publication on the GamesBids.com Web site last week.
Beijing 2008 spokesman Zhanag Hal Feng told Around The Rings that the early release (by GamesBids.com) “will not detract from the official presentation of the launch on August 3”.
Around The Rings reports that Beijing 2008 is inviting leading officials from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), sponsors and media to the unveiling in Beijing.
Commenting on the premature release of the logo Zhang said, “it is not uncommon for an emblem to be seen before its planned release”.
Beijing 2008’s marketing program and logo release were to be held in May but were postponed due to SARs.
