Beijing 2008 has launched a fence design competition for the Show Jumping Event in the Equestrian events organized by the Equestrian Company, to promote the Beijing 2008 Summer Games equestrian events being held for the first time on Chinese soil in Hong Kong.
The competition has the support of the Bank of China (Hong Kong).
The design should convey the themes of the Beijing Olympics, which are the “Green Olympics, “High Tech Olympics” and “Peoples Olympics” and the brand images of Hong Kong which includes the attributes of “progressive”, “innovative” and “cosmopolitan”.
Judging will be based on originality, adherence to topic/theme and creativity.
The competition is open to all and comprises three categories – Junior (under 16), Senior (16 or older) and Professional.
Prizes range from $10,000, $8,000 and $5,000 and will be awarded in each category. The winner and finalist’s designs will be displayed in Hong Kong.

Meanwhile the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Jacques Rogge said he was satisfied with Beijing’s preparations for the Games. He told the Kuwaiti News Agency that Beijing’s preparation were going very well, adding that staging the Games will leave people a legacy of far-reaching influence.
