Beijing 2008 Float At Rose Parade Wins Trophy

Organizers announced Wednesday that Beijing 2008’s float at the Tournament of Rose Parade in Pasadena New Year’s day won the theme trophy for excellence in presenting the parade’s theme. The theme of this year’s parade was “Passport to the World’s Celebrations”.

The float featured the official mascots of Beijing 2008, rotating on a base and decorated with a combination of flowers, including carnations and daisy petals.

Beijing’s float was organized by the Roundtable of Southern California Chinese-American Organizations. According to Beijing 2008 it was the first time that the Chinese people from the mainland and overseas Chinese have joined in participating in the Rose Parade.

Organizers said Beijing’s float called “One World, One Dream” was a gift from the Beijing Olympic Games to the American people and the parade.

Ron Miziker, head director of the Pasadena Tournament of Rose Parade, said he was very impressed with Beijing’s float which he said was far beyond his imagination.
