Xinhua reports that more than 2,100 workers are busy building the Beijing 2008 National Stadium, also known as the “Bird’s Nest” because of its appearance.
Construction of the stadium is at a critical stage in terms of the difficulties in precisely welding the parts of the steel framework, said Tan Xiaochun, manager of the company in charge of the project.
He said, ”we are building a new miracle in the world’s architectural circles”.
Construction on the stadium began in December 2003 and should be completed in August or September. It will host the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
