The Beijing 2008 Organizing Committee announces a landscape sculpture designs contest which it says will “propagate the spirit of Olympics, and arouse the enthusiasm of the full participation of the public and international friends in Olympics”.
The contest is open to the general public and to attract original designs from world- renowned sculptures Beijing 2008 is inviting several famous international sculptors to participate in the contest.
According to Beijing 2008 themes of the sculpture designs should include the spirit of Olympics, Olympic Merit “Columniation”, Olympic and Peace, Physical Culture of Chinese Saints, Olympics in China, Olympic Heroes and Champions, and Olympic Games Series or one of them.
The deadline for the first round of submissions is December 1, 2005. The designs will be evaluated and a winning design selected December 2 to December 10, 2005. The deadline for the “perfection, modification and producing of the selected works” is May 1, 2006.
There will be an exhibition of the sculptures in various Chinese cities between May 15 and November 1, 2006. The international exhibitions will take place December 1 2006 to June 1, 2007.
The evaluation and selection of the gold, silver, and bronze winners takes places between October and December 2007.
