The Sofia Prosecutor’s Office has launched a preliminary investigation against BBC journalists involved in the film “Buying the Games”, charging them with “incitement of corruption”
As a result of the secretly filmed Panorama documentary, Bulgarian International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Ivan Slavkov had his IOC membership suspended and was not allowed to attend the Athens 2004 Summer Olympic Games.
Prosecutors said Friday that the journalists used illegal means of surveillance to implicate Slavkov as Bulgarian law forbids filming with a hidden camera. There is a further charge – instigation of corruption.
